Frequently Asked Questions

How does Heirloom pricing work?

Heirloom uses simple, per-item pricing based on the type of media you send. You ship everything first—any amount, any format—and Heirloom specialists inspect, count, and classify each item. You then receive a transparent, itemized quote showing exactly what you’re paying for.

Do I pay before or after digitization?

You pay after your media has been received and inspected—not before. Unlike many digitizing services, Heirloom does not require prepaid estimates or guessing quantities in advance. You only approve and pay once you’ve reviewed your itemized quote.

Are there extra fees for damaged, blank, or short media?

No surprise fees. Heirloom only quotes items that can be repaired and at least partially digitized, and you’re never charged for media that can’t be recovered. Any items determined to be completely blank are automatically credited back—something most services don’t do.

What’s included in the price?

Pricing includes professional inspection, basic media repairs, secure handling, digitization with professional equipment, and delivery to your private Heirloom digital vault. Shipping is prepaid when you use a Heirloom box or shipping label, and it includes the cost of returning your archived media. Cloud access is included during delivery, with no hidden processing or handling fees.

Is there a minimum order or package requirement?

No. There’s no minimum order size and no forced bundles. You can send one item or hundreds—Heirloom prices everything individually so you only pay for what you actually digitize.

How does Heirloom compare in price and quality to Legacybox or iMemories?

With Heirloom, you only have to send your media once. Customers often come to Heirloom after paying other services for transfers that weren’t done correctly, including items already labeled from Legacybox or iMemories. Heirloom delivers accurate, high-quality digitization with included repairs, transparent pricing, no prepaid bundles or forced DVDs, and credits for blank media.

Why don’t you offer flat-rate bundles?

Flat-rate bundles often cause customers to overpay for blank or damaged media. Heirloom’s per-item pricing ensures fairness and transparency by charging only for what can actually be preserved. It’s a more honest approach—and better aligned with protecting irreplaceable memories.
