Scrapbook Scanning Service
Description
Heirloom's scrapbook scanning service makes it easy to preserve your priceless scrapbook collections without taking them apart. We professionally digitize embellished scrapbook pages, preserving the complete layout of every page—including photographs, handwritten notes, decorations, textures, memorabilia, and page arrangements—as high-quality 300 dpi PDF files.
We scan 12×12 scrapbook pages along with other popular scrapbook sizes. Heirloom offers six scrapbook scanning services based on the number of dynamic pages, including Mini, Small, Medium, Large, Expanded, and Oversize scrapbooks. Dynamic pages include flaps, fold-outs, gates, and other pages that open to reveal additional content.
Whether you're sending scrapbooks, photo albums, photographs, slides, negatives, videotapes, or other media, simply send everything together. Heirloom specialists carefully inspect every item, identify exactly what you've sent, verify it can be digitized, and prepare a detailed, itemized quote.
There is no counting, no guesswork, and no obligation. During our free inspection, Heirloom specialists determine the appropriate scrapbook size and email you a detailed, no-obligation quote. We begin scanning only after you've approved the quote and submitted payment.
Why Use a Scrapbook Scanning Service?
Scrapbooks tell stories that individual photographs cannot. The arrangement of photos, handwritten captions, decorations, textured embellishments, and keepsakes all work together to preserve family history. Professional scrapbook scanning preserves every completed page exactly as it was created while reducing the need to handle aging books.
Why Choose Heirloom?
Most scrapbook scanning companies expect you to count pages or remove items before sending your scrapbook.
Heirloom doesn't.
Simply send your scrapbook, and Heirloom specialists will:
- Identify every type of media you send
- Count dynamic scrapbook pages
- Determine the appropriate scrapbook size
- Verify everything can be safely digitized
- Prepare a detailed, itemized quote
- Answer any questions before work begins
Only after you've reviewed and approved your quote do we begin digitizing your memories.
Six Scrapbook Sizes
Heirloom offers six scrapbook scanning services based on the number of dynamic pages:
Mini: 1-4 pages
Small: 5-50 pages
Medium: 51-100 pages
Large: 101-200 pages
Expanded: 201-300 pages
Oversize: 301-400 pages
Dynamic pages include traditional pages as well as flaps, fold-outs, gatefolds, and pages that open to reveal additional photographs, journaling, or memorabilia. During your free inspection, Heirloom specialists determine the correct scrapbook size for your quote.
Scrapbook Scanning vs. Photo Album Scanning
Scrapbook Scanning preserves the entire scrapbook page as a high-quality 300 dpi PDF, including the arrangement of photographs, handwritten notes, decorations, textured embellishments, and keepsakes.
If your goal is to create individual 600 dpi JPG files from every photograph in an album, choose Heirloom's Photo Album Scanning service instead.
What types of scrapbooks can Heirloom digitize?
Heirloom digitizes all kinds of scrapbooks, including standard 12″ × 12″ bound books with decorative layouts, handwritten notes, newspaper clippings, ticket stubs, and keepsakes. Each scrapbook is handled page by page to preserve its unique design.
How are scrapbooks priced for digitization?
Scrapbooks are priced by the number of sides scanned, not by individual photos. Pages that are dynamic—such as flaps, fold-outs, or pages that open to reveal more content—are included in the side count.
What digital format will my scrapbook be delivered in?
Each scrapbook is converted into one multi-page PDF file scanned at 300 DPI. This preserves the full page layout exactly as it appears, making it easy to view, share, and store digitally.
Will the layout and order of my scrapbook be preserved?
Yes. Heirloom preserves the original order, layout, and design of every page. Nothing is rearranged or cropped—your scrapbook is captured exactly as it exists.
Can Heirloom scan thick or embellished pages?
Yes. Scrapbooks with layered photos, glued items, textured pages, or attached memorabilia are carefully scanned using methods designed for fragile and dimensional materials.
What if I want higher resolution or individual photos separated?
If you want higher-resolution scans or each photo cropped into separate 600 DPI image files, Heirloom recommends using the Photo Album Scanning Service, which is designed specifically for that purpose.
Will I get my original scrapbook back?
Absolutely. All original scrapbooks are carefully returned after scanning. Your books are treated as irreplaceable and handled with care throughout the process.
