Heirloom digitizes standard audio cassettes, microcassettes, Digital Audio Tapes (DAT), and even 8-track cassettes. If you’re unsure which format you have, our team identifies it during inspection and emails that to you in an itemized digitizing quote.
Are audio cassette repairs included?
Yes. Free audio cassette repair is included whenever possible. This often means repairing shells, fixing tape tension, or transferring damaged or loose tape onto a new cassette shell so clean playback and digitization are possible.
How are cassette sides and tracks delivered digitally?
Every side or track from a cassette is saved as its own individual digital audio file. This keeps recordings clearly separated and easy to organize, listen to, and share.
To what format will my cassette audio be digitized?
Digitized audio is delivered as MP3 files at 128 kbps, a widely supported format that balances sound quality with easy playback across phones, computers, and modern devices.
Can Heirloom digitize old or fragile audio cassettes?
Yes. Aging cassettes are handled with care using professional equipment. While some wear is unavoidable due to age, Heirloom focuses on creating the best possible 1-to-1 digital capture before further degradation occurs.
