The film may become brittle, warped, or shrink over time, making it more difficult to scan. Heirloom specialists inspect every reel for vinegar syndrome during your free inspection. If the film can be safely recovered, we'll include the appropriate recovery service in your no-obligation quote. If it's too fragile to safely attempt recovery, there is no charge for that reel.

Which 16mm Film to Digital Service should I order?

You don't have to decide. Simply send your film, and Heirloom specialists will inspect every reel during your free inspection and classify it as either a Small, Large, or Damaged reel if it shows signs of deterioration such as vinegar syndrome or requires specialized recovery. We'll then email you a detailed, no-obligation quote. If a damaged reel is too fragile to safely recover, there is no charge for that reel, and it won't be included in your quote.
