Heirloom specialists assign a unique file number to each side of every disk. The data from that side is transferred into an online folder with the same number, so you can easily match digital files to their original disks.

Yes. Heirloom preserves the entire object hierarchy exactly as it exists—files, folders, and subfolders are transferred intact into your Heirloom online folder for each disk.

Often, yes. Beyond running multiple legacy readers and operating systems, Heirloom has a high recovery rate for locating hidden or non-indexed data that basic transfers frequently overlook.

Heirloom attempts recovery whenever possible, but no data recovery can be guaranteed. Magnetic media may be degraded due to age, heat, moisture, or handling. This is especially common with Zip disks, many of which have already failed due to the well-known “click of death.”

Heirloom transfers files exactly as they exist. We cannot guarantee usability if files were created with outdated or proprietary software. However, JPG images will render on virtually any device and can be viewed directly within Heirloom.

Recovered data is placed into a secure Heirloom cloud folder for streaming or download at any time. All original disks are carefully returned after the transfer attempt unless you request otherwise.
