Heirloom scans all slide formats, including standard 35mm, 126, 127, and other 2”×2” mounted slides. We also handle specialty formats such as metal-framed slides, glass slides, mini 110 slides, and microfilm-style slides, which require extra care.

Standard 2”×2” framed slides are scanned by the hundred. A neatly stacked pile about 5 inches tall equals roughly 100 slides, making it easy to estimate quantities without counting each one.

Slides that require additional handling—such as metal or glass mounts, very small formats, warped frames, or microfilm-style slides—are classified as specialty slides. These are scanned individually to ensure safe handling and accurate capture.

No. There’s no need to remove slides from carousels or boxes. Heirloom scans slides as received to minimize handling, while preserving the original order and groupings.

Before scanning, Heirloom experts remove surface dust, inspect each slide, and ensure correct orientation so images aren’t scanned upside down or reversed. This professional preparation helps produce a cleaner, more accurate digital image.
