We scan virtually every type of mounted transparency. The most common standard slides are 35mm, 126, and 127, but any slide mounted in a 2" × 2" frame no thicker than 1/16 inch is considered a standard slide. Larger, thicker, glass-mounted, or unusually shaped transparencies are scanned through our specialty slide scanning service.
Whether you're sending slides, photo albums, loose photographs, negatives, film reels, videotapes, or other media, simply send everything together. How do I estimate my slide count?
A 5-inch stack of standard slides contains approximately 100 slides. There's no need to count them before sending your collection. Heirloom specialists will inventory every container during your free inspection and provide a detailed, no-obligation quote.
What is specialty slide scanning?
Specialty slide scanning is for transparencies that cannot be safely scanned as standard slides. This includes glass-mounted slides, oversized or unusually shaped transparencies, frames thicker than 1/16 inch, or any slide larger than 2 × 2 inches. Simply send your collection. Heirloom specialists will identify any specialty slides during your free inspection and include them separately in your no-obligation quote.
Will my slides stay in their original order?
Yes. Heirloom scans each slide in its original order and returns it to its original box, tray, or carousel. Every container receives a unique identification number, and its 22MP JPG images are delivered in a correspondingly numbered digital folder, making it easy to browse your memories exactly as you organized them.
How will I receive my digitized slides?
Heirloom delivers your scanned slides as high-quality 22MP JPG images to your private Heirloom cloud, where you can immediately view, download, organize, and share them. You can also add a Heirloom Flash Drive or External Drive to your order, and your original slides are safely returned in their original boxes, trays, or carousels.
Will my digitized photo slides be AI enhanced?
No. Heirloom's slides to digital service is focused on creating the highest-quality digital capture of your original transparencies before they fade or deteriorate further. We carefully clean each slide before scanning and create faithful 22MP JPG images using professional scanning equipment. AI enhancements and photo edits are digital processes best performed later by the content owner, allowing you to enhance copies of your slides while always preserving the original, unaltered digital capture.
