Yes. Heirloom often recovers video from damaged, broken, and even moldy VHS-C tapes. We can splice broken tape, repair or replace cassette shells, and do everything possible to capture the highest-quality digital copy before the magnetic tape degrades further. Heirloom cannot reverse aging or guarantee that every section will be perfect, but our goal is to preserve as much of your video as possible before it gets worse.

You do not pay Heirloom upfront for digitizing. Just use your Heirloom label, drop off your VHS-C tapes—or even mixed media like photo albums, film reels, and DVDs—at any UPS Store, and we handle the rest. Once your order arrives, Heirloom inspects every item and sends you a clear quote for approval before you pay any digitizing fees.

Yes. If Heirloom confirms that a VHS-C tape is completely blank, even after careful playback, you receive store credit for that tape. We do not simply assume a cassette has content because it is labeled or recorded-looking. Heirloom takes the time to inspect and verify what is actually on your tapes so you only pay for media with recoverable memories.

Heirloom converts each VHS-C tape into one 720x480 MP4 digital video file. Your MP4 files are delivered to your private digital vault, where you can download, stream, and share them easily during your included access period. Heirloom can also transfer copies to a flash drive if you want physical delivery. We use portable MP4 files because they are far more flexible and durable than putting your memories back onto DVDs that can also degrade over time.

Heirloom focuses on creating the best possible digital capture from your original VHS-C tape, not on editing your memories for you. We believe you should stay in control of how your content is trimmed, enhanced, or improved over time, whether you edit it manually or use AI tools as they continue to get better. Many disappointing “enhancements” start with weak source files, so Heirloom’s priority is to preserve the strongest digital version now, while your original tape is still available.
