VHS-C to Digital Service

$15.99 $30.00

Heirloom's VHS-C to digital service makes it easy to preserve your family's priceless home movies before they're lost to time. VHS-C, also known as Compact VHS or mini VHS, was a smaller version of the standard VHS cassette designed for camcorders. Most VHS-C tapes require a special adapter to play inside a regular VCR, and it's not uncommon for tapes to become stuck inside the adapter over time. If that happens, our specialists can safely extract the tape before digitizing it.

Whether you're sending VHS-C tapes, photographs, film reels, audio recordings, or other media, simply send everything together. Our preservation specialists carefully inspect every item, identify exactly what you've sent, and prepare a detailed, itemized quote.

There is no counting, no guesswork, and no obligation. You don't pay anything until we've completed our inspection and you've approved the quote.

Why Use a VHS-C to Digital Service?

Your memories are irreplaceable, but VHS-C tapes weren't designed to last forever. Over time, magnetic tape deteriorates, playback equipment becomes harder to find, adapters become damaged or lost, and every viewing increases the risk of permanent damage. A professional VHS-C to digital service preserves your home movies in a modern digital format that can be streamed, downloaded, and shared with future generations before those memories are lost.

Why Choose Heirloom?

Most digitization companies expect you to identify your media and estimate your costs before you send anything.

Heirloom doesn't.

Simply send your media, and our specialists will:

  • Identify every type of media you send
  • Inventory each individual item
  • Verify each item can be digitized
  • Recommend the appropriate digitization service
  • Prepare a detailed, itemized quote
  • Answer any questions before work begins

Only after you've reviewed and approved your quote do we begin digitizing your memories. That means no surprises, no unnecessary charges, and complete confidence that your family's memories are receiving the care they deserve.

How are my digitized VHS-C videos delivered?

Your converted videos are delivered to your private Heirloom digital vault, where you can download them anytime. Optional USB flash drives are also available. Heirloom does not deliver VHS-C conversions on DVD because digital files are safer, easier to back up, and more future-proof.

What does Heirloom convert my VHS-C tapes into?

Heirloom delivers one MP4 video file at 480p for each recorded tape. The goal is a faithful, accessible capture. The exact result depends on the quality of the aging magnetic media while it's still recoverable.

Does Heirloom really credit for empty VHS-C tapes?

Yes. If Heirloom confirms that a VHS-C tape is completely blank, even after careful playback, you receive store credit for that tape. We do not simply assume a cassette has content because it is labeled. Heirloom takes the time to play through the entire tape so you only pay for media with recoverable memories.

What if my VHS-C tape is stuck inside an adapter?

That’s common and not a problem. Heirloom includes free repairs even if a VHS-C cassette is jammed inside an adapter. Simply send the tape and adapter together, and technicians will safely remove, repair, and digitize the cassette whenever possible.

Can Heirloom repair damaged or jammed VHS-C tapes?

Yes. Basic repairs are included at no extra cost. This includes repairing broken housings, fixing jammed reels, cleaning debris, and rescuing VHS-C tapes damaged by age or improper storage.

Do I need to send my VHS-C camcorder or cassette adapter?

No. Heirloom has the equipment needed to play and digitize VHS-C tapes, so you normally only need to send the cassettes. If a tape is already stuck inside an adapter, send both together rather than trying to force it out.

Will digitizing improve the picture quality of my VHS-C tapes?

Digitization preserves the best recoverable picture and sound from the original tape, but it cannot create detail that VHS-C never recorded or restore information that has been permanently lost. Your MP4 will remain standard-definition video rather than being artificially presented as true HD.
