VHS-C to Digital Service
Your VHS-C camcorder tapes hold priceless moments, but their small size and aging tape make them especially fragile. Heirloom converts VHS-C to high-quality digital files you can stream, download, and share—handling free repairs, even if the cassette is jammed inside an adapter, and delivering everything securely to the cloud.
What does Heirloom convert my VHS-C tapes into?
Heirloom converts each VHS-C cassette into a high-quality MP4 digital video file. MP4 files are easy to download, stream, and share across phones, computers, and smart TVs. Each VHS-C tape becomes its own digital file, with empty footage removed.
Do I need a working VHS-C adapter to use Heirloom?
No. You don’t need an adapter at all. Heirloom has professional equipment to safely handle VHS-C cassettes directly. If you do have an adapter—working or not—you can send it with your tape and we’ll responsibly recycle it.
What if my VHS-C tape is stuck inside an adapter?
That’s common—and not a problem. Heirloom includes free repairs, even if a VHS-C cassette is jammed inside an adapter. Just send the entire setup (tape + adapter). Our technicians safely remove, repair, and digitize the cassette whenever possible.
Can Heirloom repair damaged or jammed VHS-C tapes?
Yes. Basic repairs are included at no extra cost. This includes repairing broken housings, fixing jammed reels, cleaning debris, and rescuing VHS-C tapes damaged by age or improper storage. If a tape can’t be recovered, you’re never charged.
What if my VHS-C tape turns out to be blank?
If a VHS-C cassette is confirmed to be completely blank after professional playback attempts, it is automatically credited back. You only pay for tapes that actually contain recoverable video—no estimates, no guessing.
Can I send VHS-C tapes mixed with other media?
Absolutely. VHS-C tapes can be shipped together with standard VHS tapes, MiniDV, Hi8, photos, film reels, audio cassettes, and more. Upon arrival, Heirloom identifies, sorts, and sends an itemized digitizing quote before you make any payment..
How are my digitized VHS-C videos delivered?
Your converted videos are delivered to your online Heirloom digital vault, where you can download them anytime. Optional USB flash drives are also available. Heirloom does not deliver VHS-C conversions on DVD because enduring digital files are safer, easier to back up, and future-proof.
