You don't pay upfront. Simply send your audio CDs or MiniDiscs, and Heirloom specialists will inspect every disc, verify it can be digitized, and email you a detailed, no-obligation quote. We begin digitizing only after you've approved the quote and submitted payment.
Can you repair scratched CDs?
Often, yes. Heirloom successfully recovers data from approximately 92% of damaged CDs, including many affected by scratches and disc rot. We use professional disc surface reconditioning and advanced recovery techniques whenever it's safe to do so. If our inspection determines a disc can't be recovered, we simply exclude it from your quote—you pay nothing for that disc.
Can you digitize copyrighted music CDs?
No. Heirloom digitizes non-copyrighted audio CDs and MiniDiscs, including personal recordings, interviews, oral histories, church services, and other recordings you own or have permission to reproduce. We cannot copy commercially produced copyrighted music CDs.
How will I receive my digitized CDs?
Heirloom assigns every disc a unique tracking number before digitizing it. Each audio track is delivered as its own 128 kbps MP3 file in a correspondingly named folder within your private Heirloom cloud. You can immediately stream, download, organize, and share your recordings, add an optional Heirloom Flash Drive to your order, and your original discs are safely returned.
Will my CD recordings be AI enhanced?
No. Heirloom's CD to digital service is focused on creating a faithful digital conversion of your original recordings into portable MP3 files before the discs become unreadable. We don't use AI to recreate missing audio or alter your recordings. AI restoration and audio editing are best performed later by the content owner, preserving an original digital master while allowing enhanced copies to be created whenever you choose.
