Disc to Digital Service

Your unlabeled CDs and DVDs may look identical, but they often contain priceless videos, photos, or files that modern devices can’t read reliably. Heirloom inspects, reconditions, and transfers disc content into organized online folders—so you can access what’s recoverable before scratches, disc rot, or time make it unreadable.

What types of discs can Heirloom transfer to digital?

Heirloom transfers content from CDs, DVDs, CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW (+/-), Blu-ray, and mini discs, whether they contain playable video, audio CDs, or data files. Many discs are unlabeled—Heirloom identifies what’s on each disc during inspection.

What if my discs are unlabeled or unmarked?

That’s very common. Unlabeled discs often contain priceless memories or files. After receipt, Heirloom inspects each disc and sends an itemized quote describing what appears recoverable—no work begins until you approve.

Are there discs that won’t be quoted?

Yes. Discs with complete cracks or structural damage that make recovery impossible are not quoted. If a disc has no realistic chance of recovery, you won’t be charged for it.

How are my discs labeled and organized digitally?

Each side of every disc receives a unique file number. The recovered content from that side is placed into an online folder with the same number, making it easy to match digital results to the original disc.

Will my original file and folder structure be preserved?

Yes. When discs contain data files, Heirloom preserves the entire object hierarchy—folders, subfolders, and files—exactly as they exist on the disc.

Can Heirloom recover files from discs that won’t play?

Often, yes. Heirloom reconditions disc surfaces to reduce skipping and improve readability and uses advanced workflows to locate hidden or non-indexed data that basic transfers often miss. That said, recovery is never guaranteed due to deep scratches, incomplete burns, or disc rot.

Will the recovered disc files open on my computer?

Files from discs are transferred exactly as they exist. Heirloom cannot guarantee usability for files created with outdated or proprietary software. However, JPG images and video files will render on virtually any device and can be viewed directly within Heirloom.
