Super 8 and Regular 8mm (Standard 8) are different movie film formats that require different scanning equipment. Super 8 has a larger image area and smaller sprocket holes than Regular 8mm film. Can you digitize the sound on Super 8 film?

Yes. If your Super 8 film includes a magnetic sound stripe, Heirloom can digitize both the movie and its synchronized audio. During your free inspection, Heirloom specialists identify sound film and include audio transfer in your detailed, no-obligation quote. If your Super 8 film is silent, we'll simply digitize the movie without audio.

How do I know which Super 8 film service to choose?

You don't have to. Simply send your film, and Heirloom specialists will inspect every reel during your free inspection and classify it as either a Small (3 inches in diameter), Large (over 3 inches), or Damaged if it shows signs of deterioration such as vinegar syndrome or requires specialized recovery.
