Floppy Disk Recovery Service
Heirloom's floppy disk recovery service makes it easy to recover valuable files from aging computer media before they become unreadable. We recover data from 3.5-inch floppy disks, 5.25-inch floppy disks, and Zip disks, transferring every recoverable file into organized digital folders in your private Heirloom cloud.
Every disk receives a unique tracking number before recovery. All recovered files from that disk are transferred into a correspondingly named digital folder, making it easy to match your recovered files to the original media.
Whether you're sending floppy disks, Zip disks, hard drives, photographs, videotapes, film reels, or other media, simply send everything together. Heirloom specialists carefully inspect every item, identify exactly what you've sent, verify it can be recovered, and prepare a detailed, itemized quote.
There is no counting, no guesswork, and no obligation. During our free inspection, Heirloom specialists inspect every disk for physical damage before emailing you a detailed, no-obligation quote. If a disk is too severely damaged to safely attempt recovery, it won't be included in your quote, and you won't be charged for it.
Why Use a Floppy Disk Recovery Service?
Floppy disks and Zip disks have a limited lifespan. Magnetic media naturally deteriorates over time, while aging disks can become unreadable because of physical damage, contamination, or magnetic degradation. Professional recovery gives you the best opportunity to preserve valuable files before they're permanently lost.
Why Choose Heirloom?
Most data recovery companies expect you to determine what type of disk you have before placing an order.
Heirloom doesn't.
Simply send your disks, and Heirloom specialists will:
- Identify every type of media you send
- Classify every floppy or Zip disk format
- Inspect every disk for physical damage
- Verify each disk may be safely recovered
- Prepare a detailed, itemized quote
- Answer any questions before work begins
Only after you've reviewed and approved your quote do we begin recovering your files.
Which Floppy Disk Recovery Service should I order?
You don't have to choose. Simply send your disks, and Heirloom specialists will identify whether they're 3.5-inch floppy disks, 5.25-inch floppy disks, or Zip disks during your free inspection. We'll verify each disk can be safely recovered and email you a detailed, no-obligation quote before any work begins.
Can you recover damaged floppy disks?
Often, yes. Heirloom specialists inspect every disk before recovery to determine whether it might be safely read. If a disk is too severely damaged to safely attempt recovery, it won't be included in your quote, and you won't be charged for that disk.
How will I receive my recovered files?
Heirloom assigns every disk a unique tracking number before recovery. All recoverable files from each disk are transferred into a correspondingly named digital folder in your private Heirloom cloud. You can immediately download, organize, and share your recovered files, add an optional Heirloom Flash Drive to your order, and your original disks are safely returned.
Will I be able to open my recovered files?
Heirloom's floppy disk recovery service is focused on recovering every readable file from your original media. Because floppy disks may contain thousands of different file types created by decades of software, we can't identify every file or provide instructions for opening it. After downloading your recovered files from your Heirloom cloud, you can often determine how to open them by searching the file extension (such as .doc, .wps, or .dbf) online or by using modern file conversion tools. Our job is to recover and preserve your files exactly as they existed on the original disk.
Why are some files missing after floppy disk recovery?
Floppy disks and Zip disks store data magnetically, and that magnetic signal weakens over time. Bad sectors, magnetic deterioration, mold, and physical damage can permanently erase portions of a disk. Heirloom recovers every readable file and every readable portion of every file, but no recovery service can restore data that has already been physically lost.
